Julie Evans Counselling

Frequently Asked Questions
What is my fee?
Individual sessions:
50-55 minute session: $160
85 minute session: $240

There is no GST on counselling services with an RCC as of 2025.

My hourly fee is in line with the recommended fee schedule outlined by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

How do you schedule an appointment?
The most direct way to schedule an initial consultation or a first appointment is through my contact form. I typically respond to messages within 48 business hours.
I offer a complimentary 20 minute initial consultation for people who would like to know more about me, the counselling process and to generally start to get a sense if working together feels like a good fit. Or, I'm happy to book a full session for those who want to dive right in.

I offer sessions during daytime hours Tuesdays through Fridays, with a few early evening spots weekly.

How often should you come to counselling?
The frequency of sessions and duration of time that someone comes to counselling is different for every individual and is determined by your goals, needs, and how your are feeling. Often, it is beneficial to meet once per week or bi-weekly for a few months, then gradually reduce the frequency of meeting to once monthly or as needed.

Many folks feel like meeting for only a few months is enough. Others want and/or need more longer term support that could last many months or even years, or come back after a period of time when they need more support. There is never any formal commitment to total length of our work together.

What is my no-show/late cancellation policy?
I require a minimum of 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel a session (barring any emergency), otherwise a full session’s fee will be charged for my time.

How do I accept payment?
Payment is due just prior to your session and is made via E-transfer to my registered email address, julie@julieevanscounselling.ca. A copy of your receipt will be emailed after payment is received.

Are counselling costs covered by your extended health insurance benefits?
My services may be covered by some extended medical health insurance plans. To find out what your plan includes, contact your employment insurance and ask them if your coverage includes counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

Unfortunately, at this time I do not directly bill your insurance company, so payment is made out of pocket first, and you submit your receipts for reimbursement. Official receipts provided may also be used as income tax deductible.

I am a registered provider with Crime Victim's Assistance (CVAP) and the First Nations Health Authority.

Do I offer couples or family counselling?
At this time I do not offer couples or family counselling, as my passion and primary area of practice is working with people individually or in some cases, with parents of any youth I may be working with.
What are my pronouns?
I use the pronouns she/her.

What is my confidentiality policy?
Your privacy is extremely important to me, as well as being an essential legal and ethical standard in counselling practice. What you say to me is privately kept between you and I. However, there are some limits to our privacy, which means there are a few instances in which I am obligated to break our confidentiality, and they include:
-
If you tell me a child, youth or vulnerable adult is being abused or neglected
-
If you disclose to me your immediate plans to end your own life or end the life of another
-
If you’re involved in legal matters and the court of law subpoenas your file
If you would like to know more about the ‘limits to confidentiality’, we can discuss this during our initial phone consultation and our first session.
